    Conditions Report:

Current As Of: 20-22 May 2025 per dates on photos*

Activity During Report: On/Off trail hiking on along Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and John Muir Trail (JMT) between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes.

    Conditions:

Current conditions on the PCT/JMT on Muir Pass, Selden Pass and Silver Pass: still very snowy! The nighttime temperatures are now pretty high, so the snow gets slushy at 9AM. Lots of postholing and some high-ish creek crossings. We have reached peak snowmelt, but don't despair! While currently the hiking conditions are less than ideal, the situation will soon improve as the snowpack recedes. Look on the bright side: there are no mosquitoes yet? Highly recommend ice axe and crampons!
