Some of our staff members went up to the Green Gendarme to check out a new alpine rock route being developed. Here's what they found in terms of conditions on the trail up to the objective!

Conditions:Ā
Current conditions in the South Fork of Big Pine Creek: the trail is currently snow-free until just beyond the wilderness boundary, roughly at the bottom of the switchbacks near the waterfall. From there, expect to begin encountering snow, with coverage increasing as you gain elevation toward the lakes and high country. For hikers looking to stretch their legs without committing to significant snow travel, this is currently one of the better options in the area. The creek is flowing well, the waterfalls are putting on a show, and signs of spring are beginning to appear throughout the canyon. Now we're just waiting for the wildflowers to catch up and complete the transition from winter to hiking season. š¼šļø
