If you’re planning a thru-hike, tackling the John Muir Trail (JMT), or heading out for backpacking, fishing, or hunting trips, the Western Mountaineering UltraLite 20 is a standout choice. When Western Mountaineering says a bag is good to 20°F, they mean it. Put it next to most other “20-degree” bags and you’ll immediately notice the difference in loft, warmth, and overall build quality.
The full down collar helps seal in heat around your neck without adding unnecessary bulk, while 16 oz. of high-loft down gives the UltraLite an impressive 5 inches of loft. Even with that warmth, the total weight is just 1 lb. 13 oz., and it compresses down small in your pack.

At Eastside Sports, we’re also owned and operated by former (for now) thru-hikers. The owners are 2015 PCT southbounders.
