  • Bedrock Mountain Clogs: Passing the Test in the Buttermilks

    December 17, 2024 2 min read

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you hear that? No? Listen more closely. It sounds like a whisper...almost like the wind is blowing through a gap in your window seal.

Just kidding - I know what it is.

    The mountains are calling.

    What about you ask?

Duh...they want you to know about the new Bedrock Mountain Clogs!!!

So as to live in harmony with this call from Mother Nature, we recently sent one of our local gear testers, Natalie D., out on a mission to put these fly kicks through their paces out in the famous Buttermilk Boulders just outside town.

Here is her unfiltered, honest opinion:

"Bedrock has produced an incredibly comfortable shoe that easily goes all day from town to crag. The leather clog upper is stylish for professional work environments and keeps the toes warm in shoulder seasons and mild winter weather. The Bedrock foot bed provides the support I need to be on my feet all day at work and in play.

In particular, I love wearing these shoes at the crag---they are so easy to slip on and off when changing into climbing shoes dozens of times, and the Vibram sole provides ample traction for navigating approach trails and scrambling around the boulders. I like pairing them with wool socks for the chilly days, and go barefoot on the warmer days. Thanks to their adjustable straps, you can easily switch between socks and bare feet and always have a clog that fits well.

I wholeheartedly recommend these to climbers, hikers, townies, and ramblers.

The only thing they can't do is send Robinson's Rubber Tester* in the Buttermilks--and yes, I did try in these bad boys."

    Staff Pro Tips:
    1. Sizing - These clogs are unisex, so on any size combination, the lower number is the US Men's size, and the higher one is the US women's size. For example, size 9/10 means that it is a men's 9, and a women's 10.
    2. Fitting - The clogs fit best by first adjusting the heel strap and then adjusting the forefoot straps. From there, you should be able to use just the forefoot straps for daily adjustments to tighten/loosen as needed when putting them on and not need to touch the heel strap again (or rarely if so).

Did you know Bedrock also makes the Cairn Evo Sandals?

*Editorial Note: Robinson's Rubber Tester is no joke even in real shoes as Bishop local Andy Liu shows here. As to the question on everyone's minds, the answer is yes, as of this blog post on 17 December 2024, the much anticipated "Bedrock Mountain Clog" FA of this problem is still up for grabs. Let us know if you put it down!
