One of our team members, Chris, switched from the La Sportiva Wildcats over to La Sportiva Bushido III runners this past August. Four months later—after long miles, technical trails, and plenty of wear—he’s built a solid impression of the shoe. Here’s what he learned.

Here's his unfiltered opinion of them:

Since picking up a pair of La Sportiva Bushido III this summer, I’ve worn them almost every day for the past four months. They were comfortable right out of the box, with no break-in period needed.

They’ve proven to be very durable, showing minimal wear so far. I have wide feet, so I opted for the wide version. La Sportiva shoes can run a bit short, but sizing up to a 12 from my usual 11.5 gave me the perfect fit.

The Bushido III doesn’t offer much cushioning, but this keeps your foot close to the ground and makes the shoe highly responsive with a secure fit.

The solid toe cap has saved my toes more than once on rocky terrain. Meanwhile, the mesh uppers provide excellent ventilation and dry quickly after getting wet. At just 1 lb. 5 oz. per pair, they’re lightweight—perfect for multi-pitch climbs. I barely notice them clipped to my harness.

The Frixion XT 2.0 rubber delivers excellent traction descending the granite domes of Tuolumne Meadows, even on wet rock. The Bushido III also offers impressive stability on the steep descents into the Owens River Gorge.
