Weather and local conditions

The Eastern Sierra is a sort of no-man's land for weather forecasts. In fair weather all the forecasts are usually equally reliable. But during stormy periods mountain weather is pretty tricky to forecast with any accuracy. When we really need to have a better idea of the forecast we distill information from a variety of sources including the Reno, Vegas, and local forecasts. Plus the all-important Howard Schecter forecast out of Mammoth. No forecast is reliable more than two or three days out.
