Bouldering
Long known as a center for year round bouldering and climbing, Bishop has within a thirty minute drive more bouldering than your fingers and tendons can handle. Rather than attempting to keep an exhaustive list of the areas and their current climbing and access conditions at this site we'd rather help you keep updated the old fashioned way: just give us a call and we'll fill you in on the latest.
Year round bouldering is available here but remember: Bishop is 4,000' in altitude and is subject to extremes of temperature and precipitation. In the winter it actually does snow occasionally, in wet years more than occasionally and often temperatures dip into the teens. In the summer temps exceeding 100º are not unknown. It's easier to escape the heat in the summer than it is to find a warm place to climb when it's cold in town: on a hot summer day relief is just a short drive up the hill. Temps are often 20º or 30º cooler a mere thirty minute drive up into the nearby Sierra (and 4,500' above the valley bottom).
We stock all the available printed information on local bouldering as well as everything you need to go: rock shoes, climbing accessories, bouldering pads (we rent these, too), and all the free verbal information on local bouldering you might need.
