Long known as a center for year round bouldering and climbing, Bishop has within a thirty minute drive more bouldering than your fingers and tendons can handle. There is a fantastic guide for our area -Bishop Bouldering- which we always have in stock. Year round climbing is available here but remember: Bishop is 4,000' in altitude and is subject to extremes of temperature and precipitation. In the winter it actually does snow occasionally, in wet years more than occasionally and often temperatures dip into the teens. In the summer temps exceeding 100º are not unknown. It's easier to escape the heat in the summer than it is to find a warm place to climb when it's cold in town: on a hot summer day relief is just a short drive up the hill. Temps are often 20º or 30º cooler a mere thirty minute drive up into the nearby Sierra (and 4,500' above the valley bottom). Feel free to call or email us for the latest on weather and conditions at the various areas.
We stock all the local guidebooks and all the essentials you will need for your climbing trip including chalk, brushes, and tape. Our climbing and approach shoe selection is extensive, and we keep all sizes in stock year round. The shoe selection is only rivaled by the bouldering pad pile. There are enough pads to make even the princess and the pea happy. Our well informed staff will be happy to answer your questions about the area, places to stay, things to do, and directions to the bouldering areas.
